Directors’ Residency
Each year, Griffin Theatre Company offers a unique opportunity for two directors at an early stage of their careers to experience working inside a new writing theatre. Run in conjunction with NIDA, each director is invited to take part in a six-month residency, placing them firmly within the framework of Griffin’s own actitivies.
With practical experince in the fields of artistic and literary management, rehearsal room process (through a directorial attachment on a Griffin production), dramaturgy and repertoire selection, they gain access to all regular departmental and company-wide meetings, developing a key understanding of operational areas, such as finance, sponsorship, production, marketing, box office and administration.
The residency offers graduating directors the experience of working in a professional company environment, complementing theoretical and practical studies, and offering a true pathway for professional development.
In 2010, Griffin is delighted to welcome Imara Savage and Paige Rattray as our affiliate directors.
