For Directors

Griffin is committed to being accessible to artists and transparent in our processes. The company takes its dialogue with artists very seriously.  If you share our passion for making the best contemporary theatre we want to hear from you.  In addition to the avenues below, one of the best means of getting to know us is to come and see a show. We look forward to seeing you in the foyer soon.

Residency

Each year, Griffin Theatre Company offers a unique opportunity for two directors at an early stage of their careers to experience working inside a new writing theatre.  Each director is invited to take part in a six-month residency, placing them firmly within the framework of Griffin’s own activities.

With practical experience in the fields of artistic and literary management, rehearsal room process (through a directorial attachment on a Griffin production), dramaturgy and repertoire selection, they gain access to all regular departmental and company-wide meetings, developing a key understanding of operational areas, such as finance, sponsorship, production, marketing, box office and administration.

The residency offers emerging directors the experience of working in a professional company environment, complementing theoretical and practical studies, and offering a true pathway for professional development.

In 2010, Griffin is delighted to welcome Imara Savage and Paige Rattray as our affiliate directors.

To be considered for a residency, directors should be of graduate level or hold equivalent practical experience.  For more information on the residency, email belinda@griffintheatre.com.au.
