The Fates
by Griffin's Resident Playwrights
19 May - 10 November 2009
"The Gods were moved; but none can break the ancient Sisters' iron decrees." Metamorphoses, Ovid
In Greek history, The Fates represented man’s inescapable destiny.
These three fearsome sisters – Clotho, Lachesis and Atropos – weaved, measured and cut the very thread of life itself. Keeping an eternal watch, they ensured the allotted fates took their course without obstruction from men or gods. Now, in 2009, Griffin’s newest resident playwrights offer three contemporary short plays provoked and inspired by The Fates’ myth with Spin, Measure and Cut.
A foretaste of three distinctive voices to come, The Fates are a thrilling theatrical one-off to prove that good things really do come in small packages…
