Capital Appeal
You might have noticed we’ve had some work done.
In 2010, we teamed up with our pals at Tonkin Zulaikha Greer to give the SBW Stables Theatre a well-earned renovation. So far we’ve seen the Stables foyer get a much needed facelift and 2011 saw work start on the auditorium, including a re-fit to the theatre itself, making the seating much more comfy to enjoy shows from and improving backstage spaces, making the lives of our hardworking stage managers and actors that bit easier.
Tonkin Zulaikha Greer are not only a perfect fit for the job with their experience working on a multitude of historically and culturally significant sites, but have also been integral for their vision and their generosity as sponsors of the project. But TZG aren’t the only ones who’ve been generous; we’ve had a groundswell of support for the project from theatre fans all around the country and we’re so grateful!
But there is yet even still more work to do – Stage 3 of our capital works project will look at some significant changes that will open the foyer up with a new north-facing entrance, improving access and airflow, and accommodating a new bar and cafe.
