Individual Giving

Working out of the iconic but tiny SBW Stables Theatre means that box office income can’t possibly cover the cost of putting on our productions and running our artistic development and community programs. Because of this, we depend on the generosity of individual patrons to keep the company going.

Who gives: People who share our passion for new Australian stories and nurturing the artists who create them. Click here to see a list of our current supporters.

How much: Anything from $2 to $20,000. Gifts come in all shapes and sizes, and are all tax deductible.

What happens next: All donors receive regular updates on the work we’re engaged in. If you donate $100 or more annually, you’ll be invited to our ‘Inside Rehearsal Room’ events to get a sneak peak at upcoming productions, while our Studio donors regularly join us for opening nights and Season Launches.

What do we do: More than you would imagine! Donations make possible a broad range of programs and activities, including:

  • The commissioning of new work;
  • Workshops and readings of scripts in development;
  • Artist residencies providing skills development and pathways to creating main stage work;
  • Griffin Ambassadors – free theatre tickets and workshops for year 10 to 12 students;
  • The Griffin Award – one of the country’s most prestigious playwriting competitions; and
  • Free performances for local community and welfare groups.
